Hello Acquia

Being involved in the Drupal project has given me the unique chance to put my talents and efforts to use in a way which directly benefits a lot of other people. When I write code for Drupal I have the deep satisfaction of knowing that it will likely run on a huge range of websites around the world and that it will enable people to accomplish things that they might not have accomplished otherwise. For me, one of the greatest perks of Drupal is that my contributions mean something to so many people.

For precisely these reasons I am beyond excited about joining the Acquia team. My role with Acquia will be very closely tied to the goal of helping "Drupal to grow by at least a factor of 10", and will therefore make contributing to Drupal ten times more meaningful than before.

My official job title is Senior Drupal Analyst, but my day-to-day activities will be directly involved with helping Drupal developers and Drupal service companies thrive and succeed. The past four years of helping people in the support forums, doing on-site and in-person training, writing books and articles, making screencasts, these were just a warm up for the role that Acquia has in mind for me now.

Thanks to Jay and Dries for reaching out to me and sharing your vision. Thanks to the others who helped facilitate this opportunity. Hello Acquia, let's do some Drupal!

Hello, Rob,

Congratulations on the new job! Good news for Drupal, and good news for Acquia.

Cheers,

Bill

Excellent!

Congratulations Robert - you will be a great asset to Acquia. Keep having fun!

Congratulations!

That's great news, Robert. You've been such a huge help to InteractiveQA, and I'm glad you'll be able to continue your important work and helping us all do what we do.

Congratulations Robert!

Congratulations Robert, been following your work for a while, am glad to hear of this news. Looking forward to the products you will help Acquia develop to improve Drupal performance and scalability for Drupal Service providers. Sign me up! : )

Yo, congrats

I saw this man live! Only yesterday! He actually exists ;)

Really, it's quite remarkable how Acquia manages to employ each and every Drupal rockstar that's not chx or with Lullabot (anymore). Now how much venture capital is left until the influx of new team members stops? Honestly, I'm just waiting for Crell and hunmonk pronouncing that they have resigned from their current jobs and are now working for Acquia.

What am I doing there?

There's a ton of people who aren't with Acquia yet that I could name that are more of a rockstar than I am. :-)

Congrats, Rob! I look forward to seeing what awesomeness results. :-)

/me reserves the right to be wrong

Well, it was just a guess - you'd certainly fit into the scheme of "positive, very visible people with a big-picture view for the future of Drupal". Acquia seems to recruit its members following that scheme (as should every Drupal company, admittedly).

Congratulations

Looks like a very nice coat that fits !

Lovely..

Great news Rob - I'm really excited to see how Acquia shapes up as a company in its own right; pretty uniquely positioned in the whole Open Source game as a firm with particular focus on promoting the development of a specific project to in turn support and spread word of its business model - will drop word to you soon for an interview to post at http://www.whydrupal.com ...
