CivicSpaceLabs releases CivicSpace 0.8.2

CivicSpaceLabs.org has just released the latest and greatest version of their Drupal powered platform for doing important things on the web. By important things, I mean running political campaigns, advocacy sites, or anything else you can do with Drupal.

CRM comes to Drupal

The most prominent feature that is new to this release is the inclusion of CiviCRM, a powerful and robust Contact Relationship Management package. I think they might actually call it a Constituent Relationship Management tool, but it does many things that you'd expect in traditional CRM software. It is an effective address, contacts and groups manager with mass emailing features.

Drupal plus goodies

CivicSpace is 100% compatible with Drupal and the Drupal modules found at Drupal.org. The added value of getting CivicSpace comes in the way they are put together, the default configurations that you have to choose from, and the install script that helps you set things up. The CivicSpace themes are flexible, sharp looking, and designed with extensibility in mind. They also make a clear separation between the "front end" and "back end", which I appreciate.

RobsHouse.net runs on one of the release candidates for CivicSpace 0.8.2. I'll be upgrading shortly! Kudos to the CSL team.

CiviCRM site

You can read more about CiviCRM here.

We are pleased to announce the latest release of CiviCRM, version 1.2! CiviCRM is a web-based, open source, internationalized, constituent relationship management (CRM) application, designed specifically to meet the needs of advocacy, non-profit and non-governmental organizations. As an open source solution, any company, organization or individual can download it, adapt it, modify it and use it without paying license fees.

CiviCRM is currently intended for qualified consultants who are considering deployment of a CRM solution for small to medium-sized non-profits. Organizations considering CiviCRM to meet specific needs should carefully evaluate CiviCRM.
